Introduction

This tutorial is based on the 5-day workshop that we commonly run for new TOPOG users. It presumes:

• a solid grounding in hydrology
• a basic knowledge of the UNIX operating system
• some familiarity with the windows environment on your workstation
• an ability to use an editor on your UNIX machine

The exercise is structured into six sessions, including:

• digital elevation modelling
• terrain analysis
• steady state water balance modelling
• preparation for dynamic water balance modelling
• basic dynamic water balance modelling
• advanced dynamic water balance modelling

Before you begin, you need to download some files from this web site. After that, just follow the instructions.
